Description
Pocket Universe brings together four works commissioned and premiered by EXAUDI between 2013 and 2019 through the ensemble’s EXPOSURE showcase, capturing the remarkable artistic relationships the ensemble has forged with some of the most distinctive compositional voices working today.
Cassandra Miller‘s Guide weaves a Southern Baptist Hymn into ecstatic vocal loops; Andrew Hamilton’s glitched repetitions in Proclamation of the Republic lead a hysterical path through the text of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic; Leo Chadburn explores the sentimentality of the holiday postcard with gentle irony in Affix Stamp Here; and Geoff Hannan’s Pocket Universe condenses the cosmic speculation of Galileo and Newton into an obsessive and virtuosic tour-de-force.
